Our team has recently completed stage one of the upgrade of the pond area at Wyre Vale Park. This is area is extremely popular with both our homeowners and local wildlife.
The pond has always been the focal point of the Park and a very popular location to live. It supports a healthy collection of Mallards and Moorhens. They successfully rear their young each year and homeowners enjoying watching them flourish.
The banks of the pond had started to erode and we were keen to repair the damage whilst at the same time ensuring easy access to and exit from the water for the baby chicks in particular. In order to cause the least disruption to wildlife the work will be completed over three phases – one phase each year. Our team, Carl, Mark, Alex and Lawson, were tasked with carrying out phase one and this has now been successfully completed.
There are numerous habitats on the Park and these encourage hedgehogs, pipistrelle bats and other species to live here. These bats are the smallest and most common to be found in the UK. They are nocturnal and feed on midges, moths and other flying insects.
Creating sustainable wildlife habitats is something which we hold dear and such initiatives have formed part of our success in being honoured with gold conservation awards for so many consecutive years.
